The government through the Minister of Trade recently blocked a total of 92 sites that were offering binary-option trading, as well as 336 sites that were offering robot-trading services. Moreover, the Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency (“BAPPEBTI”), working in cooperation with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, blocked a total of 1,222 websites in 2021. These thousand-plus blocked sites comprised websites that were organizing illegal commodity futures trading, as well as organizers of gambling rings who disguised their operations under the cover of futures trading.[1]
