- The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing ("Minister") has issued Circular No. 01/SE/M/2022 on Technical Guidelines for Green Building Performance Assessments (“Circular”), which establishes a set of technical guidelines that specifically address several Green Building (Bangunan Gedung Hijau – “BGH”) related matters, including: 1) BGH performance assessment procedures; 2) BGH certification process; and 3) BGH supervision process.
- BGH performance assessments are conducted by service providers, who should undertake assessments in line with the BGH performance assessment checklist, which specifically addresses the following parameters: 1) BGH performance assessments for new buildings; 2) BGH performance assessments for constructed buildings; 3) Green Community Residences (Hunian Hijau Masyarakat – “H2M”) performance assessments; 4) New green area performance assessments; and 5) Established green area performance assessments.
- BGH certification processes should be applied to every phase of BGH organization before certificates are subsequently issued by the relevant head of city/regency technical affairs.
- Central and regional governments are responsible for supervising the organization of BGH through the application of a tier system in their relevant jurisdictions. Said supervision encompasses the following activities: 1) Regulation; 2) Empowerment; and 3) Supervision of building organization.
