Jakarta Provincial Minimum Wage to be Increased by 5.1% in 2022

The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, has revised and increased the 2022 Provincial Minimum Wage (Upah Minimum Provinsi – "UMP") in DKI Jakarta by 5.1% to Rp4,641,854 from the previous stipulation of only 0.85% at Rp4,453,935. Therefore, the increase of 2022 UMP for DKI Jakarta will reach Rp225,667, which is considered higher than the increase of DKI Jakarta UMP in 2021.
The revised increase of UMP for DKI Jakarta is based upon the research conducted by Bank Indonesia that shows the projection of Indonesian economic growth in 2022 which will reach the rate of 4.7% – 5.5% in 2022. This is also corroborated by the research conducted by the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance that projects such growth to reach the rate of 4.3%.
Mr. Baswedan expected that the increase of the UMP in 2022 will also increase the welfare of the workers, as well as the purchasing power of the residents within DKI Jakarta.
