- As a priority industrial sector that is specifically addressed under the Indonesia 4.0 roadmap, the Ministry of Industry ("Ministry") is committed to supporting the implementation of green technologies within the textile and textile products industry ("Textile Industry") as part of efforts aimed at increasing productivity through a sustainable approach. This commitment has now been reflected through the issuance of Regulation of the Minister of Industry No. 13 of 2019 on Green Industry Standards for the Textile Industry, Dyeing, Stamping, and Completion.
- The Ministry is also aiming to initiate a new import substitution policy to improve the national trade balance, particularly in relation to the raw and auxiliary materials which are the backbone of the country’s processing industries.
- The aforementioned import substitution policy is ultimately expected to increase consumption of local raw and auxiliary materials, as well as encourage national industries to improve Indonesia’s industrial infrastructure. Deficiencies in this infrastructure are currently being alleviated through imports. (ANT)
