In order to ensure adequate supervision over the alcoholic-beverage industry, the Indonesian Government requires any industrial alcoholic-beverage company (“Industrial Companies”) that is aiming to import raw materials for use in the production of their alcoholic beverages to first secure a recommendation from the Ministry of Industry (“Ministry”). This recommendation is a prerequisite for the subsequent securing of an approval from the Minister of Trade for the import of the raw materials in question.[1]
In order to clarify the guidelines that apply in relation to the securing of said recommendations, the reporting obligation, supervision measures and the imposition of sanctions, the Minister of Industry (“Minister”) has now issued Regulation No. 27 of 2021 on Procedures for the Issuance of Recommendations for Approvals of Imports of Materials for Alcoholic Beverages Within the Context of Control and Supervision over the Alcoholic-Beverage Industry (“Regulation 27/2021”).[2]
