Updated Provisions on Rounded-up Wages Now Available Across Seven Provinces

  • In an attempt to expand the scope of government assistance in the form of salary/wage subsidies ("Subsidies") for employees/laborers ("Employees"), the Minister of Manpower ("Minister") has now adjusted requirements for receivers of Subsidies through the issuance of Regulation No. 21 of 2021 ("Second Amendment") on the Second Amendment to Regulation of the Minister No. 14 of 2021 on the Guidelines for the Granting of Government Assistance in the Form of Subsidies to Employees During the Handling of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
  • Provisions that address areas that have minimum wages of above Rp. 3.5 million and that are rounded up (di bulatkan ke atas) have now been redefined as follows: 1) DKI Jakarta: Rp. 4.5 million; 2) Banten: Rp. 3.9 million – Rp. 4.3 million (dependant on city/regency); 3) West Java: Rp. 3.8 million – Rp. 4.3. million (dependant on city/regency); 4) East Java: Rp. 4.3 million – Rp. 4.4 million (dependant on city/regency); 5) North Kalimantan: Rp. 3.8 million; 6) Island of Riau: Rp. 3.6 million – Rp. 4.2 million (dependant on city/regency); 7) Papua: Rp. 3.6 million – Rp. 4 million (dependant on city/regency). Previously, the province of North Kalimantan, as outlined in point (5) above, was not incorporated.
  • This Second Amendment has now removed one of the requirements that have to be met by Employees in order to secure Subsidies from the government. This removed requirement applied to people who worked in Level-3 and Level-4 Enforced Community Activity Restrictions (Pemberlakuan Pembatasan Kegiatan Masyarakat/PPKM) areas.
  • The Second Amendment will come into force on 8 November 2021.
