OJK to Regulate Fintech Provisions in Law

  • Mr. Markum, Advisors from Digital Finance Innovations at the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan – "OJK"), have stated that discussions are currently being conducted with the goal of regulating financial technology under the law (undang-undang).
  • According to Mr. Maskum, there is currently no law regulating financial technology in general. As a result, no sanctions have been set for non-licensed financial technologies. In response to this state of affairs, the OJK is currently drafting a master plan for the financial services sector, which will encompass several regulations on financial technology.
  • Moreover, the government, through the Ministry of Finance, is currently drawing up a policy framework for the development of the financial system, as well as further improving OJK regulations on consumer protection within the financial services sector. (ANT)
