OJK to Suspend the License Granting for Online Lending Services

Non-Banking Financial Services

Due to high rate of criminal offenses in the scope of online lending services, Johnny G. Plate, as the Minister of Communication and Informatics, has informed that Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan – "OJK") will conduct a moratorium on the issuance of new fintech licenses over the newly established online lending services. This policy was decided during the recent internal meeting session with the President.
In line with such policy, Mr. Plate stated that the Ministry of Communication and Informatics will also conduct a moratorium on the issuance of electronic system organizers for newly established online lending services.
Furthermore, strict actions will also be taken by the National Police Agency for the crimes related to online lending services. Mr. Plate also stated that the government will take strict actions with no compromise in order to provide a clean digital space that is free from the practice of unregistered or illegal online lending services. _(SETKAB)
