- In an effort to maintain the momentum of efforts to accelerate a national economic recovery and establish greater banking stability, the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan – “OJK”) has now extended the relaxation period for banking credit restructuring by one year, from 31 March 2022 to 31 March 2023. The extension of this relaxation period also applies to rural banks (bank perkreditan rakyat/BPR) and sharia rural banks (bank perkreditan rakyat syariah/BPRS).
- The OJK has stated that the extension of the credit restructuring relaxation period should be implemented alongside proper risk management, specifically in relation to the following areas: 1) Criteria for restructuring debtors who are eligible for extensions; 2) Adequacy of the Allowance for Impairment Losses (Cadangan Kerugian Penurunan Nilai/CKPN); 3) Prerequisites for the distribution of dividends; and 4) Stress-testing of the impacts of restructuring on banks’ capital and liquidity.
