Provisions on the Management of B3 Waste Integrated and Updated

The Minister of Environment and Forestry ("Minister") recently issued Regulation No. 6 of 2021 on Procedures and Requirements for the Management of Hazardous and Toxic Waste Materials ("Regulation")
In essence, the Regulation updates and integrates provisions that address the various procedures and requirements that apply during any management of Hazardous and Toxic Waste Materials ("B3 Waste"). Said procedures and requirements were previously scattered across several regulations. The scope of the new Regulation encompasses the following matters: 1) Determination of B3 Waste status; 2) Reductions in B3 Waste; 3) Storage of B3 Waste; 4) Collection of B3 Waste; 5) Transportation of B3 Waste; 6) Utilization of B3 Waste; 7) Treatment of B3 Waste; 8) Accumulation of B3 Waste; 9) Dumping of B3 Waste; 10) Cross-border movement of B3 Waste; and 11) Applications for and issuance of: a) Technical Approvals for the Management of B3 Waste (PLB3), and b) Operational Feasibility Letters for the Management of B3 Waste (SLO-PLB3).
The Regulation has been in force since 1 April 2021.
