Directorate-General of Tax Introduces New Duty Stamp

  • The Directorate-General of Tax (“Directorate-General”) has just introduced a new duty stamp as a replacement for the previous version, which was originally designed back in 2014. The public can now purchase the new duty stamp from all post offices across Indonesia.
  • Hestu Yoga Saksama, Director of Counseling, Services and Public Relations at the Directorate-General, issued a statement recently confirming that the new duty stamp features a number of general elements, including a picture of the national Garuda Pancasila emblem, the number “10000” and the words “SEPULUH RIBU RUPIAH”. Meanwhile, special features of the new stamp include the predominant pink, red and yellow colors of the fibers used in the stamp’s paper, a rectangular security hologram line bearing the image of the Garuda Pancasila national emblem, the image of a star, the logo of the Ministry of Finance and the inscription “DJP”.
  • In terms of the remaining stock of the 2014-edition duty stamp, the general public is still permitted to use the old stamps until 31 December 2021, although they must add up to a total value of at least IDR 9,000. In order to reach this value, the 2014 edition stamps should be used by affixing three IDR 3,000 duty stamps, two IDR 6,000 duty stamps, or a combination of IDR 3,000 and IDR 6,000 duty stamps to the relevant documents.
  • The Directorate-General has also reminded the Indonesian public to remain aware that both fake and used (reconditioned) duty stamps are often in circulation. The public is thus being encouraged to gain an awareness of the various quality features of genuine stamps and to always purchase their stamps from trusted sellers. (DJP)
