- The Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (“Ministry”) has now introduced a public complaint service for its housing programs that can be accessed across various regions of the country. The Secretariat of the Directorate-General of Housing (“Directorate-General”) at the Ministry, Dadang Rukmana, recently issued a statement affirming that members of the general public may now file complaints concerning housing programs, regardless of whether said programs are being organized by developers or by the government.
- Through the provision of this new service, it is hoped that members of the general public will be able to obtain correct information and solutions when facing problems within the housing sector. At the same time, the new service should support the disclosure of public information across the housing sector. Complaints may now be filed via the following website: www.pengaduan.pu.go.id, as well as via the following email address: [email protected], via the lapor.go.id application, and via social media, specifically the following Instagram account: @perumahan_pupr.
- Mr. Rukmana has also revealed that the Ministry will work to improve standard operating procedures for the handling of public complaints and will also issue an official Decree on the Community Complaint Management Team Within the Directorate-General.
- The Ministry has previously carried out an evaluation of the effectiveness of various public housing programs. Dwityo Akoro Soeranto, Director of Housing Management System and Strategy at the Ministry has stated that this evaluation process was aimed at discovering the extent to which the provision of public housing has directly affected social and economic conditions across various national regions.
