OJK to Extend the Period of for the Relaxation of Credit Loan Restructuration Restructurings

  • The Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan – “OJK”) has decided to extend the loan-restructuring relaxation policy for a further year as a precaution aimed at preventing any reduction in quality in relation to restructuring debtors. However, the extension of this policy will be provided on a selective basis based on bank assessments in order to reduce the possibility of moral hazard and to support debtors in their economic activities during the ongoing pandemic.
  • The OJK is aiming to finalize the regulation that will address the loan-restructuring extension in the near future, as well as extensions of other related stimuli, including: 1) Exclusion of loan-at-risk calculations during assessments of bank soundness levels; 2) Governance of loan-restructuring approvals; 3) Adjustment to the fulfillment of the capital conservation buffer and assessments of foreclosed collateral; and 4) Postponement of Basel III implementation.
