- The Deputy Head of the Politics and Security Coordination Sector at the House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat - “DPR”), Azis Syamsudin, has stated that the deadline for the submission of Bill on Job Creation (“Bill”) to the government falls on Wednesday, 14 October 2020 at 00.00 WIB (Western Indonesia Time). This deadline is in line with Article 164 of the DPR’s code of conduct which sets a seven-day period for the submission of a new law to the government after it has already been passed by the house.
- Mr. Syamsudin also clarified that the DPR’s legislative body has already held 89 meetings in order to discuss the Bill which were attended by prominent public figures, labor representatives, educators and businesses. Data and recordings from these meetings will also be submitted to the government along with the draft of the Bill.
- Finally, Mr. Syamsudin stated that the Secretary General of the DPR, Indra Iskandar, had not yet submitted the Bill to the government since the Bill’s attachment still required some editing and correction.
- Based on information released by the Secretary General of the DPR, the latest version of the Bill contains 812 pages, which comprise 488 main pages and 324 pages of elucidation. (ANT)
