- On 31 August 2020, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif, officially reduced the applicable electricity tariffs for the October – December 2020 period for seven categories of non-subsidized customers.
- This electricity-tariff reduction is in accordance with Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 3 of 2020, which mandates for an adjustment to the electricity tariffs when any changes occur in relation to the country’s economic macro-realization indicators (i.e. currency, Indonesian crude price, inflation and coal benchmark price), all of which are calculated on a quarterly basis.
- In the wake of the introduction of the tariff adjustments, an electricity tariff of IDR 1,444.70/kWh (a reduction of IDR 22.5/kWh over the previous period) now applies in relation to the following low-voltage, non-subsidized customers: 1) Household customers with 1,300 VA, 2,200 VA, 3,500 – 5,500 VA and 6000 VA connections and above; 2) Business customers with 6.600 – 200 kVA connections; 3) Government customers with 6.600 – 200 kVA connections; and 4) Public street lighting. Meanwhile, the electricity tariff for medium- and high-voltage customers remains unchanged. (ANT)
