Directorate-General of Tax and Himbara Enter into Cooperation Concerning NPWP Validation System

The Directorate-General of Tax has announced an official partnership with the State-Owned Bank Association (Himpunan Bank Negara – “Himbara”) that will address the provision of integrated online services for the validation and registration of official taxpayer-identification numbers (nomor pokok wajib pajak – “NPWP”).
This service will be available from 17 August 2020 and is expected to make it easier for banks to validate the NPWP of customers and prospective customers, as well as to check customer compliance with their tax-return submission obligations. Tax-return data may then subsequently be used during risk-evaluation processes relating the extending of credit.
Through this easing of NPWP registration and validation processes, it is expected that micro-, small- and medium-scale enterprises will more easily be able to gain access to and secure interest/margin subsidies.
