Installation of Service Restriction Access for Operators for the Blocking of Unidentified IMEI

  • In order to implement International Mobile Equipment Identity (“IMEI”) regulations, Equipment Registration (ER) infrastructure is set to be installed across seven Indonesian operators in order to restrict services to Base Transceiver Stations (BTS). As a result of the enforcement of IMEI regulations, operators will subsequently be able to immediately block communications services which are implemented between mobile phones and unidentified IMEI.
  • Furthermore, according to R. Janu Suryanto, Director of Electronic and Telematics Industry at the Ministry of Industry, preparations for the installation of ER are set to get underway within the course of the next six months prior to the IMEI regulations coming into force. (ANT)
