B30 to Be Ready for Implementation by January 2020

Djoko Siswanto, the acting Director-General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, recently stated that Indonesia would be ready for the full implementation of B30 biodiesel by January 2020, thus reducing the country’s dependence upon both fossil fuels and imports of biodiesel.
In addition, Mr. Siswanto explained that the level of palm-oil content in the country’s biodiesel was currently 20%. However, it has been predicted that by early 2020, a palm-oil level of 30% will be achieved for B30 biodiesel.
As a side note, Mr. Siswanto revealed that in addition to implementing B30 throughout the road-transportation sector, the government was also planning to implement B30 across the country’s rail and shipping networks.
Mr. Siswanto remains hopeful that Indonesia’s abundant stock of palm oil will result in the B30 rollout proving effective in terms of reducing the country’s reliance on imports of biodiesel and jet fuel. (ANT)
