- During the recent G20 Digital Ministries Meeting (“G20 Meeting”), which was held from 8 - 9 June 2019, Indonesia’s Minister of Communications and Informatics, Rudiantara, emphasized that Indonesia supports the Data Free Flow with Trust (“DFFT”) concept proposed by the Japanese Government, although with certain conditions attached. In essence, DFFT will facilitate exchanges of data/information between different sectors at a global level and it has been predicted that this initiative will ultimately increase efficiency.
- In addition to addressing DFFT, Mr. Rudiantara has also raised the idea of an Inclusive Digital Economy Accelerator Hub (“IDEA Hub”) with both the Japanese and Saudi Arabian Governments. The IDEA Hub will serve as a digital repository platform which will store various information on digital-economy business models. Such a repository will be designed in such a way as to minimize social and economic inequalities and should be of particular benefit to lower-income citizens.
- In addition to addressing both the DFFT and IDEA Hub, the following topics were also discussed at the G20 Meeting: 1) Society 5.0; 2) Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence; 3) Government Innovation; 4) Security; and 5) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Inclusion. (KOMINFO)
