OJK Introduces OBOX, an IT-Based Supervisory Platform

The Financial Services Authority (“OJK”) recently launched OJK-Box or OBOX, an application which functions as the information-technology based supervision within the financial services sector.
As the pilot project, OBOX will be implemented in banking sector, specifically for 10 pilot banks, starting from 13 May 2019. As for the second phase, it will be implemented towards 104 banks gradually up to December 2019.
Wimboh Santoso, the Head of Board of Commissioners of OJK, stressed that OBOX will potentially accelerate the information flows to OJK, especially information regarding transactions. From technical point of view, Wimboh hoped that the implementation of OBOX will reduce the burdened and time-consuming on-site examinations and thus, on-site examinations may be focused only on the confirmation of analysis results which were initially produced.
