2019 - 2024 Economic and Manpower Roadmap

  • In an effort to support Indonesia’s elected president for the 2019 – 2024 period, the Indonesian Employers Association (Asosiasi Pengusaha Indonesia – “APINDO”) is currently deliberating its 2019 - 2014 Economic and Manpower Roadmap (“Roadmap”).
  • The Roadmap is aiming to achieve the following targets: (1) Increasing national competitiveness; (2) Developing high-quality human resources through vocational education and training; (3) Strengthening national security.
  • In terms of manpower specifically, APINDO has also highlighted the need to revise Law No. 13 of 2003 on Manpower (“Manpower Law”) in order to bring it into line it with recent developments and to improve enforcement of the minimum wage calculation formula, as set out under Government Regulation No. 78 of 2015 on Payment (“Regulation 78/2015”).
  • Labor unions are also being encouraged to also prepare a similar roadmap and to cooperate with APINDO, providing inputs to the upcoming administration in order to realize a better manpower sector.
  • For more on Regulation 78/2015, see ILB No. 2750.
