Procedures for Exports of CBU Motor Vehicles Simplified

  • In a bid to ease the export process and ultimately to overcome Indonesia’s ongoing trade deficit, the government has issued Regulation of the Director-General of Customs and Excise No. PER-01/BC/2019 on Procedures for Exports of Completely Built-up Motor Vehicles (“Regulation 1/2019”).
  • Regulation 1/2019 is expected to accelerate exports of completely built-up motor vehicles (“CBU”) by removing the requirement to provide Export Notifications (Pemberitahuan Ekspor Barang – “PEB”) and Export Receipts (Nota Pelayanan Ekspor – “NPE”) prior to the entry of vehicles into official customs areas.
  • Moreover, the enforcement of Regulation 1/2019 signals the introduction of a new accelerated export process which integrates submitted data into the in-house Indonesia Terminal Vehicles (IKT) system, as well as the system of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, and which also involves the barcode scanning of Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) on all vehicles which are earmarked for export.
