Government to Prepare Zero Percent VAT Facility for Export Services

As a measure aimed at boosting overall export activity, the Minister of Finance (“Minister”) is currently preparing a draft regulation on tax facilities and is looking to impose a zero percent Value Added Tax (VAT) facility for export services. Said export services may take any of the following forms: 1) Information technology services; 2) Research and development services; 3) Legal services; 4) Accounting and bookkeeping services; 5) Interconnection services; and 6) Transportation equipment and freight forwarding services.
In addition, the Minister is also preparing several policies in conjunction with Bank Indonesia which will address foreign currency generated through export activities in the form of deposits in the country. The new policies will also address the use of book values within the context of mergers, consolidations and business expansions. (ANT)
