Development of Financial Technology Set to Bolster Capital-Market Investment

  • The Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan – “OJK”) is hoping to ensure that the development of financial technology will encourage investors to invest in the country’s capital-market sector, in spite of the fact the sector currently exhibits relatively low rates of financial literation and inclusion, specifically 4.4% and 1.25% respectively.

  • In order to improve this situation, the OJK has pledged to continue to implement various initiatives, including the issuance of Regulation of the OJK No. 22/POJK.04/2016 on Licensing Segmentation for Securities Brokers and Regulation of the OJK No.24/POJK.04/2016 on Securities Brokerage Agents, which, it is hoped will ultimately boost the number of licensed market personnel operating in Indonesia.
