Cryptography Technology Improves Copyright Processing

Freddy Harris, Indonesia’s Director General of Intellectual Property, has staked his claim as a digital innovator by establishing the auto-approval registration service for intellectual property, which offers a same-day service through the exclusive use of cryptography. This innovation has resulted in Mr. Harris bagging a TOP 99 Public Services Innovation 2018 Award.
Cryptography is widely considered to be a safe technology and able to protect the confidentiality, validity and integrity of copyright owners’ data. Copyright certificates are now created in the form of soft files which make filing much easier. Moreover, in addition to speeding up the registration process, this innovation is also a solution to the problem of illegal fees being levied for public services, as applications are now submitted online.
In the wake of the implementation of this new innovation, there has been an increase in the overall number of applicants from 5,865 applicants in 2015 to 15,832 in 2018.
