New Regulation on National Airport Development

The Minster of Transportation (“Minister”) has issued Regulation No. PM 69 of 2013 on National Airport Development, Activity Classification, and Management (“2013 Regulation”).

In general, the 2013 Regulation provides a strategic plan for the development of airports in remote and border areas with the expectation of a multiplier effect for local economies, trade and tourism. These purposes are achieved by redefining the development of airports with respect to:

a.	Role, function, use, classification, and class; and
b.	Setting out a Master Plan for the National Development of Airports.
