(Bill on Protection and Empowerment of Farmers)
OVERVIEW
At the end of 2010, Indonesia’s agricultural sector was the primary provider of food and responsible for feeding Indonesia’s 237 million inhabitants. .[1] Despite playing such a critical role in maintaining Indonesia’s food security, Indonesia’s agricultural sector is only supported by 4097 tractors distributed among its 87,551,000 workers. This deficiency is further aggravated by the consistently increasing areas designated for agriculture, from 46,300,000 hectares in 2001 to over 54,600,000 hectares this year.[2]
