Overview

The Vice-Chairman of Commission I at Indonesia’s House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat - “DPR”) has affirmed that the Draft Bill on Broadcasting (“Draft Bill”), if it is ultimately enforced, will repeal and replace the currently applicable framework of Law No. 32 of 2002 on Broadcasting, as amended by Regulation of the Government in Lieu of Law No. 2 of 2022 on Job Creation (collectively referred to as “Law 32/2002”).[1] The Draft Bill has been undergoing processes of harmonization and synchronization at the DPR’s Legislative Body (Badan Legislasi/Baleg) since March 2024.[2]
